What I Always Have in my Personal Item

I travel with a carry-on only now ever since my luggage was lost a few years ago. While everyone may not travel with just a carry-on, everyone has a personal item on their travels.

Your personal item is usually a backpack, tote, or purse. I love to have my personal item extremely organized so I have easy access to everything I could possibly need! I use the Beis backpack as my personal item and bring a small purse that I put in my backpack when boarding.

• Medicine/masks

  • I have a post on what to include in your travel first-aid kit. I carry a small pouch with me just about every time I leave the house with all of my daily medications + Bendaryl, Aleve, Mucinex, etc.

  • Even though people aren’t wearing masks as often, I still like to wear them on planes just because planes are nasty.

• Headphones (or airfly)

  • I just got Airpods this past Christmas, so I plan on purchasing an Airfly - which is a Bluetooth-connection device for planes.

  • If you don’t have Airfly, make sure you have the aux cord headphones for traveling if you plan on using the seatback entertainment.

• Book/iPad

  • I got my iPad as an open box deal at Best Buy for like $150! I downloaded the Kindle app onto it and all of my streaming services + Squarespace so I can work on my website while traveling, as well.

  • Some books I recommend lately:

    • Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

    • Ascension

    • The Vanishing Half

    • The Secret History

• Chargers

  • For your phone, external portable chargers, etc.

• Documents

  • Passport, Vax card (if needed), travel insurance information, tickets

• Hand wipes/Sanitizing wipes

• Usually one packing cube with 2-3 outfits

• Makeup bag

  • I keep my makeup minimal usually at home, and even more so when traveling!

• Sunglasses

• Travel neck wallet

  • I will never travel without a neck wallet… It goes under your clothes and I keep my money, passport, and IDs in there. I am obsessed and feel so safe.

  • I do carry a purse, but have NOTHING of importance in there. Usually a pen, lipstick, chapstick, and some medicine if needed.
