My Travel Little Luxuries

I love to find ways to make traveling just a bit more luxurious. I’m not yet at the point in my life where I can travel in business or first class, stay in 5-star resorts, and be able to shop until I drop at Chanel and Hermes (hopefully one day!). However, here are some ways I’ve introduced some little luxuries into my travel to elevate my experience where I can.

Little luxuries are things that elevate the experience and bring some pleasure and comfort, but not absolutely necessary.

Travel Day

  • I like to have a ginger smoothie most mornings, but especially on travel days. I’ve shared this recipe before, but the ginger helps so much with bloating that you might experience while traveling, and the banana gives you some energy and potassium for your muscles while traveling.

  • I also load on the serums and moisturizers and sunscreen knowing how drying the plane is and how much more UV you’re exposed to in planes.

  • I also like to treat myself to my favorite water (Evian) at the airport, and maybe a cocktail, if time permits. You’re on vacation!

  • As soon as I get to my destination, I like to take a shower, change, and get going. Usually to a bar or to a nice dinner to celebrate the start of the trip.

  • I know some people who have cashmere socks they wear on their travel days, but I will be sticking to my compression socks :)

During the Trip

  • I love to get a massage towards the end of my trip now! Carrying heavy bags, walking everywhere, not sleeping my best or hydrating/eating as well as I normally do definitely puts a strain on your body. I love to get a deep tissue massage and help my body feel a bit better before heading back home.

  • I have also gotten a blowout before while traveling. I have very curly hair, so this is sometimes a miss depending on how well they can straighten curly hair or how humid the destination is lol. Sometimes it is very nice and special, and sometimes it results in me crying 30 minutes later because my hair is a poof ball :)

Bed Time

  • It all starts before bed! I normally take a bath when I’m home, so if I’m in a hotel with a bath, best believe I’m taking a perfect bubble bath. I have mini Jo Malone bubble bath that I bring with me (that also doubles as hand soap) and it makes the experience so nice.

  • I continue my skincare routine and will sometimes add a mask for some extra love to my skin.

  • I have a dual-sided pillow at home - one side is memory foam and the other side is feather. I can’t bring my normal-sized pillow with me, so I have a small travel-size memory foam pillow (shout out to my sister, Keighlin, for sending me this link!)
