My 2020 Travel Bucket List

At the start of 2020, I am 25 years old. I’ve managed to go to 16 countries, 15 US states, and experience a lot. With this new decade, I would like to really focus on meaningful experiences for myself, as I will be close to 40 (ahh) at the end of this decade. These are in no particular order but this is my travel bucket list for this next decade!

#1. Sailboat cruise in Croatia. There are so many sailboat charters in Croatia that are not that expensive! Most only fit around 8 people, so I would love to have a group and we have the whole boat to ourselves. Most of these boats include food on-board, water activities, and excursions on the land. I love that they are like a more intimate cruise ship in that they take you to different locations in Croatia similar to ports of a cruise.

#2. See a Great White. Preferably from a cage lol. Sharks are my favorite animals and it has always been a dream of mine to see Great Whites from a cage or to see them breach out of the ocean. To see these animals in real life would be close to a religious experience for me.

#3. Take the train through Europe. I have always loved the train experience in Europe and would love to ride the train all around Europe. I’ve read that trains in Switzerland are so beautiful, but I’m not too picky :)

#4. See a Wonder of the World. I think my ideal Wonder of the World would be the lost city of Petra in Jordan. I haven’t seen any yet, but I did see Uxmal, which is very similar to Chichen Itza.

#5. Go on a solo trip. I did a solo trip for one day in Dublin and loved it. I would love to do a longer solo trip in London or maybe Italy within this next decade. I cannot recommend solo traveling enough. If you wait on other people to travel with you, you’ll be waiting a long time. Start somewhere nearby, whether that is just lunch or a movie by yourself, or a new city. I went to New Orleans by myself and it was a dream! While I love traveling with friends and family, going on a solo trip truly lets you do whatever you want to do uninhibited. You can also meet new people on trips, so you’re never truly alone.

#6. Take a cooking class in Italy. I’ve done a pasta making class at Sur la Table, but something about homemade Italian food just feeds my soul (along with my belly lol). I would probably cry tears of joy the entire time during a cooking class in Italy, and I am okay with that.

#7. See the Harry Potter set tour in London. I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I have a tattoo of a spell on my wrist, I have 3 box sets of the books, I have an entire bookshelf dedicated to my Harry Potter books, sources, trinkets, art, etc. Seeing this set would be like seeing the Vatican for most people. I would probably spend the entire day here, so this may be a good solo trip for me :)

#8. Take my parents on a trip. My dad is the one who has really fostered and encouraged my love of travel and he has been able to travel some during his life. My mom hasn’t really traveled much though. I would love to take them separately on a trip to somewhere really exciting and new for them. I know my dad would LOVE Tallinn, so I’m hoping to take him there soon. My mom only likes beaches lol so I would love to take her to an island in the Caribbean or somewhere really beautiful this next decade.

#9. Go back to Tallinn with my boyfriend. Tallinn is my favorite city in the world. My boyfriend is the one who introduced me to it in 2018 and I am constantly trying to go back. I would love to have a longer period of time in Tallinn and be able to see more of Estonia with him. They have an Ironman triathlon in Tallinn so I’m trying to convince him to do that someday so we can go back :)

#10. Go to a new continent. While I travel probably a bit more often than the average person, I still have only managed to explore Europe, USA, and Caribbean/Mexico. I would love to go to a new continent and experience a new culture and truly get out of my comfort zone in this next decade.

What are some trips you would like to take this next decade?
