Guinness Brewery

I’ll start this by saying I love Guinness… I think it is truly just a great beer. When I went to Dublin, I knew I had to go to the brewery and that is by far one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. If you ever find yourself in Dublin, GO. The tour is around $20 and totally worth it. It does get busy though, so I do recommend booking a set time for your tour. If you already love Guinness, I recommend booking the Guinness Connoisseur tour (I believe around $75?) which includes the history of Guinness, a tasting in a private bar, and a keepsake. I didn’t do this tour, but I definitely will next time.

Here are some Guinness fun facts:

  1. Guinness is only 125 calories a pint. Making it one of the lowest-calorie beers out there, and only 15 calories more than Bud Light, but with a ton more flavor :)

  2. It takes 119.5 seconds to pour a perfect pint of Guinness

  3. The beer is nitrogen-based, instead of carbon-based like other beers so it doesn’t make you as bloated

  4. Guinness promised every British soldier a pint of beer on Christmas Day during WWII

While on this trip, I was dating a guy. We weren’t “boyfriend and girlfriend” yet, but I ended up getting so drunk at the brewery that I FaceTimed him as he was walking out of work and said, “it’s time for you to be my boyfriend.” Over 3 years later and we’re still together.

I was also so intoxicated that I spent $120 on a Guinness hockey jersey that I apparently NEEDED, even though I have never watched hockey. I left Dublin with a hangover, a hockey jersey, and a boyfriend :)
