Fun Ways to Plan Your Trip

When my friends and I were planning on going to Egypt (RIP that trip), we had “Egypt Nights” where we’d plan, party, and just hang out and get excited for the trip.

I know some people do not like planning trips, and it can seem overwhelming… But I have found these planning nights to be so much fun and get some camaraderie and excitement going prior to the trip! Here are some tips on how to have the best planning nights:

What to Watch

We’ll watch YouTube videos of walking tours, tips, tricks, etc. These are nice since it is first-person POV of the area we’re visiting! If it’s a large city, there are often tons of videos breaking down each neighborhood.

Prior to any Disney trip, my sister and I will watch every video we can find of food tours, drink reviews, menu breakdowns of each park and make lists.

Another thing we’ll watch is movies based or filmed in the location we’re visiting. I’m visiting London with one of my best friends later this year and she hasn’t seen all of the Harry Potter movies! So naturally, that is on the list to complete prior to our trip :)

Also on this list: Bridget Jones’s Diary, The Darkest Hour, Notting Hill, The King’s Speech, and V for Vendetta.

Food & Drink

For our London planning nights, I’m going to make some tea and have British-themed snacks, like scones and biscuits. I’ve had plenty of Harry Potter-themed parties, so I may do that one night :)

If you can find any authentic snacks or recipes, that would be fun, too! Prior to Neal’s Tokyo trip, we got a subscription to monthly Japanese snacks. We had so much fun eating these crazy snacks and deciding which we wanted him to bring back.

Fun Things to Research

Outside of your typical restaurants, things to do, and excursions to research, I love researching unique souvenirs or snacks when I travel. We are taking a day trip to Paris during our London trip and I’ve done a ton of research into French skincare, snacks, perfumes, etc.
