Villa Madame Paris Review

We stayed in a new (to us) hotel this time around in Paris and our first hotel on the left bank! Set in the 6th arrondissement and in the St. Germain des Pres neighborhood, it has a local feel to this boutique hotel.

Location

Located only one block over from the Luxembourg Gardens, this hotel has a great location! It is located near a school so it feels very local and like you’re embedded into the neighborhood, while being surrounded by incredible shops, restaurants, and museums.

This was my first time staying on the left bank, having stayed in the Marais and Montmartre previously, and I loved it. I felt way more integrated into the city and culture than in more touristy locations.

Distance to landmarks:

  • Le Bon Marche - 13-minute walk

  • Notre Dame - 20-minute walk

  • Les Deux Magots - 9-minute walk

  • Cafe de Flore - 9-minute walk

  • Marin Montegut - 3-minute walk

Room and Rate

A great price for what we got - we spent $587 for 2 nights!

The room was quite spacious for European standards, as we got a king bed, a separate bathtub and shower, and a decent size bathroom. The room also included an armoire to hang our clothes, a mini fridge, a tea/coffee maker, a television, 3 windows that opened to the street (so Parisian!), a table and chair, and a large bathroom.

The hotel also offers a bar, small restaurant, and courtyard. It was cold when we visited so we didn’t utilize any of these amenities.

Pros

The location and price were definitely a positive! I also thoroughly enjoyed the room.

When leaving the hotel, you leave your key with the concierge and then retrieve it when coming back in. I love this practice in Paris - it makes me feel safe and I know I can’t possibly lose my key this way!

Having a big, separate bathtub will ALWAYS be a pro for me!

Cons

I really only 2 cons, but they are small!

First, it is located next to an elementary school, so dozens of kids are screaming early in the morning and that woke us up. We could’ve gotten up earlier, but we wanted to sleep in just a bit and we couldn’t.

Second, the bathtub could’ve been a bit cleaner for my taste. It wasn’t dirty, but it wasn’t super clean.

Overall, I’d stay here again!
