El Convento Boutique Hotel Review

We decided to add Antigua to our itinerary for our Guatemala trip somewhat last minute. Our main hurdle was finding a place to stay! I found El Convento pretty early on and fell in love.

El Convento is an old and restored convent and is absolutely breathtaking. We ended up adding an extra day to Antigua so we got two different rooms which was nice to see!

Room Breakdown

Our first room was the Grand Suite. The room price was $200/night. It included a massive bathtub, separate shower, huge vanity, mini fridge, TV, A/C, 2 chaise loungers, a king bed, fireplace, private courtyard with sitting area and jacuzzi.

We also ordered breakfast room service for three, lots of waters, and my mom ordered dinner room service. When we checked out of this room, our total was $285.

Our second room was the Grand Master Suite. The room price (including taxes) was $234. This room included a king bed, fireplace, private courtyard with sitting area and jacuzzi, mini fridge, walk-in closet, and massive bathroom downstairs, then a spiral staircase to upstairs which included 2 double beds, a fireplace, sunroofs, and a matching bathroom and mini fridge.

Ignore our mess :)

We did also order breakfast room service with this room, waters, sodas, and snacks. The total for this room was $350 when we checked out.

Breakfast

I ordered the granola and yogurt parfait the first day and it was really delicious and fresh. The granola was homemade in the restaurant, it had lots of honey and fresh fruit, and the perfect tart yogurt with it.

The second day I decided to get a little decadent. I ordered the nutella and strawberry-stuffed French toast with a latte. Both were incredible. The latte was made with Guatemalan coffee (I ended up buying the exact bag they used). I sat upstairs on the rooftop terrace alone this morning and it was a perfect view of the town and volcanoes.

The Grounds

The hotel grounds are, like the rest of the hotel, stunning. There is a gorgeous lap pool, a library, a stunning restaurant and rooftop terrace, spa, and a breathtaking courtyard.

We did not take advantage of the pool, but I was very tempted! I really hope to come back and be able to spend more time at the hotel.
